Information on Lipo Plus Tabs & L-Carnitine

LIPOTROPHIC Plus

Lipotrophic Plus formula is scientifically engineered to assist in the breakdown, distribution, and burning (oxidation) of fatty acids. The active ingredients actually accelerate the fat-burning process by breaking down fat cells into smaller particles (emulsification) to be used for fuel during exercise. This breakdown or emulsification of fat cells into smaller particles is similar to how soap breaks down grease on dishes. Plus, Lipotrophic Plus increases levels of energy and stamina during exercise while providing resistance to fatigue.

Here is a good analogy of how an emulsifier (fat-burner) works. Open a can of vegetable soup. Floating on the top are big fat globules and little fat globules. Imagine these globules represent your body-fat travelling through your bloodstream to your muscle tissue where they will eventually be burned as fuel. The smaller fat globules will get there first because they travel more freely and efficiently. Lipotrophic Plus helps in the breakdown (emulsification) of body fat.

Lipotrophics: Methionine - Choline - Inositol - Betaine

By Earl L. Mindell, ·R.Ph., Ph.D., Author of Vitamin Bible, and Vitamin Bible for Your Kids

What Does Lipotropic Mean?

Lipotropic means fat-loving. Basically lipotrophics are substances which can liquefy or homogenize fats. Americans eat 100 pounds of saturated fats per person per year -- that's 42 percent of our caloric intake in fat.

What are the Main Functions of Lipotropics?

They Increase the production of lecithin by the liver. This helps to solubilize cholesterol, thus lessening cholesterol deposits in blood vessels and decreasing the chances of some gallstone formation (most gallstones are made of cholesterol). They prevent the accumulation of fats in the liver. A fatty liver can cause sluggish liver functioning. They detoxify amines (byproducts of protein metabolism). This is important for people on high-protein diets. They Increase resistance to disease. They bolster the thymus gland to carry out its anti-disease function by: stimulating the production of antibodies, stimulating the growth of phagocytes, which surround and gobble up invading viruses and microbes, and recognizing and destroying foreign and abnormal tissue.

Lipotropic Injection

Lipotropic is a fancy word for three amino acids that are essential for the health of your liver. Your liver is the organ responsible for removing fat and toxins from your body, so if the liver is healthier it will work better for you.

The Lipotropic Ingredients

The key ingredients are Vitamin B 12, Vitamin B6, Choline, Methionine, and Inositol.

Our formula also contains Riboflavin, Thiamine, Pyridoxine, Dexpanthenol, and Niacinamide.

How the Ingredients Work

Vitamin B6 is part of the over 100 enzymes used in amino acid (protein) metabolism as well as lipid and carbohydrate metabolism. It is also involved in other areas of metabolism including a number of hormones and neurotransmitters. We have added B6 to our injection because research has shown reports of greater and more sustained energy levels when combined with B12. Having higher energy levels can help you burn more calories because you will feel better and be more active.

Vitamin B12 is essential for helping to form new, healthy cells in the body. It also boosts energy, helping to increase activity level to burn more calories.

Choline B5 supports the health of the liver in its processing and excretion of chemical waste products within the body. It is also required for the transport and metabolism of fats and cholesterol within the body. Which is important for the healthy support of the endocrine, cardiovascular, and hepatic systems.

Methionine is one of sulfur-containing amino acids and is important for many bodily functions. It acts as a lipotropic agent to prevent excess fat buildup in the liver and the body. It is helpful in relieving or preventing fatigue and may be useful in some cases of allergy because it reduces histamine release.

Inositol is a nutrient belonging to the B vitamin complex and is closely associated with Choline. It aids in the metabolism of fats and helps reduce blood cholesterol. Inositol participates in the action of serotonin, a neurotransmitter known to control mood and appetite.

Patients with a Sulphur Food Allergy (not sulfa allergy) should not take this injection. The molecular structure of Sulphur foods and Sulfa drugs are not related.

Thiamine- Vitamin B1

Known as the "morale” vitamin, vitamin B1 converts carbohydrates (sugar) into energy, promotes growth, aids digestion, and is essential for nerve tissues, muscle, and heart. It also plays a vital role in the functioning of some important enzymes and is essential for the transmission of certain nerve signals between the brain and the spinal cord.

Riboflavin-Vitamin B2

Vitamin B2 is vital for the formation of FAD (flavin adenine dinucleotide) and FMN (flavin mononucleotide), both of which are essential for metabolizing  carbohydrates, proteins, and fats and make energy available in the body. The vitamin is also important to maintain metabolism and for the health and proper functioning of the cardio-vascular and nervous systems. It also protects against free radical damage and is necessary for good vision, skin, hair, and nails. Physical exercise increases the body's need for vitamin B2.

Niacinamide- Vitamin B3

Vitamin B3 is vital for energy release in tissues and cells, as it helps form the coenzymes NAD (nicotinamide andenine dinucleotide) and NADP (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate), which are involved in the release of energy from food. The vitamin also helps to maintain a healthy nervous and digestive system and is essential for normal growth and for healthy skin.

Dexpanthenol- Vitamin B5

Vitamin B5 is necessary for the formation of co-enzyme A and the acyl carrier protein, which play important roles in the release of energy from fats, protein, and carbohydrates. It also helps to synthesize cholesterol, steroids, and fatty acids, and is required for healthy growth and the production of antibodies to help fight infection. Vitamin BS is important for the normal functioning of the adrenal glands and the production of cortisone.

Pyridoxine- Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 metabolizes proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. It forms hormones for adrenaline and insulin, and is essential for maintaining a healthy nervous system. It is also required for the formation of hemoglobin in red blood cells and antibodies that help fight infection. Vitamin B6 is used in the synthesis of RNA and DNA and is needed for the production of hydrochloric acid. It also helps to regulate body fluids.

Cyanocobalamin - Vitamin B12

Vitamin B 12 is required for the production of red and white blood cells and blood platelets (thrombocytes), the manufacture of substances needed for correct cell functioning and the metabolism of nutrients necessary for cell growth. It is essential for the recycling of certain enzymes that maintain the health of blood, nerve, and other cells. It also aids the metabolism of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. It may stimulate appetite. An "intrinsic factor'' must exist in the stomach for this vitamin to be absorbed. Vitamin B12 works together with folic acid and Vitamin B6 to lower blood levels of the amino acid homocysteine, high levels of which are associated with and increased risk of heart disease and stroke.

Inositol

Helps to metabolize fats and cholesterol in the arteries and liver. lt also helps to promote the body’s production of lecithin. It is important in cell survival in bone marrow, eye membranes, and intestines. Inositol also assists with brain cell nutrition and when used with choline it may help with menstrual problems. A number of studies have found evidence to suggest that inositol may be useful for the treatment of depression and anxiety.

Total L-carnitine

Contains: L-Carnitine; B-1; B-2; B-6; magnesium chelate; zinc; selenium; gamma oryzanol

Carnitine: Fatty acids enter the mitochondria, the oil refineries and power plants of the cell, with the help of a transport molecule, L-carnitine. L-carnitine transports the fatty acids across the mitochondrial membrane, so that ATP can be made. ATP is the "high octane” gasoline, or energy of the cell. When fatty acids are burned for energy, they provide more ATP than when carbohydrates are burned. For fatty acid metabolism to proceed, the cell needs a continuous supply of L-carnitine. One study reported that carnitine “enhances body fat mobilization" (Ramanau A. Kluge H. Eder K. Br J Nutr, 2005 May;93(5):717-21)

Carnitine and Fatigue: Because carnitine helps to burn fat for energy, it is often associated with energy levels, and with combating fatigue. In one study, researchers report that supplementation with L-carnitine was found to be safe, well tolerated, and reduce fatigue. Additionally, depression decreased and sleep improved in the study participants (Cruciani RA, Dvorkin E, et al, Safety, Tolerability and Symptom Outcomes Associated with l-Carnitine ...J Pain Symptom Manage, 2006; 32(6): 551-559.).

Carnitine and Hyperthyroidism: Hyperthyroidism depletes the body deposits of carnitine and, "since carnitine has no toxicity: teratogenicity, contraindications and interactions with drugs, carnitine can be of clinical use." In fact, researchers concluded that, "In conclusion, L-carnitine is effective in both reversing and preventing symptoms of hyperthyroidism and has a beneficial effect on bone mineralization" (Benvenga S., et al, J Clin Endocrinol Metab 2001 Aug;86(8):3579-94).

Carnitine, hyperthyroidism, and bones: Hyperthyroidism can wreak havoc on the bones, and some researchers think that carnitine can have a protective effect, both on the thyroid condition and the bone condition caused by the thyroid condition. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, researchers reported that, “L-carnitine is effective in both reversing and preventing symptoms of hyperthyroidism and has a beneficial effect on bone mineralization. Because hyperthyroidism depletes the body deposits of carnitine and since carnitine has no toxicity, teratogenicity, contraindications and interactions with drugs, carnitine can be of clinical use" (Benvenga S, et al. Usefulness of L-carnitine….J Clinn Endocrinol Metab 2001Aug;86(8):3S79-94).

The role of the B vitamins, along with co-factors such as magnesium, zinc, and selenium, are all important nutrients in energy production, and the metabolism of fat, carbohydrates, and protein.

Vitamin B-1: Also known as thiamin, Vitamin B-1 was first isolated as a coenzyme that plays an important role in the Kreb's cycle production of energy. As a coenzyme of TPP, thiamin is a critical nutrient for the cycle to continue.

Vitamin B-2: The oxidation of a molecule of fatty acid requires one molecule of FAD. FAD is formed from vitamin B-2, riboflavin. For fat metabolism to proceed there must be a continuous supply of vitamin B-2.

Vitamin B-6: Among the many functions of the B-6 vitamin, one of the most important is the key role it plays in the metabolism of fat, carbohydrates, and protein. It also assists in the production of energy, aids in the formation of antibodies, and helps to maintain the central nervous system. Vitamin B-6 also contributes to the balance of sodium and phosphorous in the body.

Magnesium is a cofactor for many enzymes, including those in the energy metabolism of fats, carbohydrates, and amino acids. Magnesium is an essential element for life. It is present in every cell type in every organism, usually occurring as the Mg2+ ion. Our main source of energy in our cells, ATP, must be bound to a magnesium ion in order to be biologically active. What is called ATP is often actually Mg-ATP. Also, magnesium plays a role in the stability of many compounds in the coils, including those associated with DNA and RNA synthesis.

Zinc is a constituent of 25 enzymes involved in digestion and metabolism alone, plays a part in energy metabolism, is a component of insulin, is essential for growth, and development of reproductive organs, and is necessary for proper functioning of the immune function (involved in cell growth and tissue regeneration). It also has antioxidant properties, and makes up part of the Zn-SOD antioxidant enzyme.

Selenium functions mainly as an antioxidant. It is a co-factor for the glutathione peroxidase enzyme (GSH-Px), which is involved with antioxidant reactions, and also has reported antioxidant activity of its own.

Gamma oryzanol has been reported to reduce cholesterol, as evidenced by the research confirming the following results with gamma oryzanol supplementation. In a randomized, controlled, parallel design study looking at mildly hypercholesterolemic men aged 38-64 years supplementation lowered: total plasma cholesterol (6.3 %); the bad cholesterol, LDL-C (10.5 %); AND the ratio of bad to good cholesterol, LDL-C/HDL-C (18.9 %) (Berger et al. Similar cholesterol-lowering properties of rice bran oil, with varied gamma-oryzanol, in mildly hypercholesterolemic men. E'Ul' JNutr. 2005 Mar;44(3);153.73).

Other research indicates that gamma oryzanol may increase the release of endorphins and the growth of lean muscle tissue, which makes it a nutrient of interest in weight balance (Rosenbloom, C et 111., J Am Diet Assoc. 1992;92(l0): 1264-65). Also, gamma oryzanol is in a category of lipotrophics (fat transporters), which work to bind and remove fat once it is mobilized from storage.

Biotin (Vitamin B-7): Commonly used for hair loss, brittle nails, nerve damage, and many other conditions. Your body needs biotin to help convert certain nutrients into energy, it helps lower blood sugar, increases good HDL cholesterol and decreases bad LDL cholesterol, it also reduces inflammation.

Biotin is one of the several B vitamins that support a healthy metabolism. Biotin converts glucose from carbohydrates into energy for the body and aids amino acids in carrying out normal bodily functions.
